Welcome to "De La Tierra" Pottery Studio and Gallery, located in Knoxville, Tennessee, deep in the heart of Appalachia.
I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a BSN in 1977. I worked for 25 years in a neonatal intensive care unit while pursuing pottery on the side. I began studying with master potter Charles Counts in the early 1980's and was juried into the foothills craft guild 10 years ago.
Continuing education workshops have included Ellen Shakin and Nick Joerling, and classes at UT Ceramic Dept. I began teaching throwing, hand building and sculpture 15 years ago out of my home. Three years ago I retired from nursing to pursue a career in ceramics, sell my work through galleries, and teach one on one classes from my studio. I feel a student of clay can benefit more from a concentrated approach. |
